Airbnb Bathroom Essentials: Everything You Need for a 5-Star Guest Experience

The bathroom of an Airbnb can make or break your guests’ rating of your space. You want to make sure you have the bathroom clean, well-stocked, and feeling spa-like.

Below is a complete list of bathroom must-haves to achieve a space that gives guests exactly what they want.

The bathroom is one of the first places guests silently judge your Airbnb, and one of the fastest ways to lose (or earn) that 5-star review.

Think about it: if a bathroom feels dirty, understocked, or forgotten… it immediately brings down the entire stay. But when it’s clean, well-stocked, and just a little bit “spa-like”? That’s when guests start using words like “thoughtful”, “luxurious”, and “we’ll definitely be back”.

After hosting 100+ stays, here’s exactly what I recommend stocking in your Airbnb bathroom to create that experience.

Shower Items:

When it comes to the shower, you want to keep things simple, clean, and easy to maintain, while still making guests feel like everything they need is right there.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Superhost tips:

If you advertise your space as family-friendly, adding baby soap/shampoo is a small touch that goes a long way.

If your shower doesn’t have a built-in ledge, use an over-the-showerhead caddy. It keeps everything easily accessible and avoids that cluttered “products on the floor” look.

Sink-Top Items:

I like to keep a few key items out on the counter so guests don’t have to search, and so it feels intentional. This is also where you can subtly guide your guests’ behavior (and protect your towels).

Here’s what I keep stocked:

Leaving makeup wipes and designated towels out in the open sends a quiet message: Please use these instead of the white towels.

Superhost tip:

You can buy hand wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. in bulk and simply refill glass bottles for an elevated, cohesive look. These refillable glass bottles with labels are a fantastic option.

Under The Sink Items:

This is where guests go when they realize… they forgot something. And trust me, this is one of the easiest ways to wow your guests.

Because when someone forgets a toothbrush, razor, or contact solution and you’ve already thought of it? That’s the kind of detail that gets mentioned in reviews.

Here’s what I keep stocked:

Superhost Tips:

Head to Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, or CVS where you can find travel sizes of the above toiletries. Also buy a few organizer bins for the toiletries so they aren’t floating around and creating an unorganized space under the sink.

Linens:

If there’s one place to invest (within reason), it’s your towels. They don’t need to be expensive, but they do need to feel clean, soft, and consistent.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Superhost Tip:

Towels can definitely feel tricky to pick out because there are SO many options out there. I love the towel set above because it:

    • Has a luxurious, spa-like soft texture
    • Is durable
    • Is a good price for what you’re getting

However, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option that still checks the above boxes, try this waffle towel set.

Avoid colored towels as these can sometimes get bleach stains from makeup, toothpaste, or other products. White gives a feeling of luxury and cleanliness that matters in the bathroom. Avoid mismatch towels also as this can unintentionally give your bathroom a non-cohesive feeling.

Toilet Items:

These are the basics, but skipping any of them is very noticeable to guests.

Here’s what to keep stocked:

Superhost Tips:

Leave 1-2 extra rolls of toilet paper beyond what you think guests need. In 100+ stays, I’ve never had issues with guests taking extras, but I have seen the frustration when there’s not enough.

And avoid single-ply… it immediately cheapens the experience.

Safety & Cleaning Items:

These aren’t necessarily glamorous, but they definitely matter.

Here’s what you need:

Superhost Tip:

Skip clear shower mats—they show dirt and hard water stains quickly. A solid color will look cleaner longer.

Extra/Comfort items:

In addition to all of the above, there are a few items that are nice to have that will really set your Airbnb apart.

Here are my favorite nice-to-have bathroom items:

If you want to be extremely “extra”… our most-loved item in our Airbnb is, without a doubt, our Kohler Leap toilet. Complete with an automatic motion-activated lid, heated seat, bidet functions, automatic flush – this thing is a beast of a toilet. Guests mention it constantly.

Totally not necessary, but if you can make one huge splurge for your bathroom, let me tell you – this is the one!

Final Thoughts:

Stocking your Airbnb bathroom can feel overwhelming at first, but once it’s set up, it becomes one of the easiest ways to consistently earn 5-star reviews.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s making your guests feel like everything has already been thought of. And when they don’t have to ask, search, or improvise? That’s when your space truly stands out!
