I think we can all agree: there is nothing better than crawling into a comfortable bed at the end of a long day. This is especially true on vacation, when after hours of adventuring you crave a truly restful night of sleep.
During my time as a host I have tried many different types of bedding, and the following list is what I have found to be the best in terms of guest comfort, durability, and cost.
First, a few tips on bedding:
You’ll notice is that all of the bedding I choose is white. While that may seem crazy, especially if you are running a pet-friendly Airbnb, white bedding gives a more luxurious feel and lets guests know that you are confident in your Airbnb’s cleanliness.
Dark, patterned bedding can hide imperfections – which, might make them appear to last longer than white bedding. But as long as you are armed with a good quality stain remover (my recommendation would be either Dawn dish soap or Miss Mouth’s Messy Eater stain spray), white sheets can last longer than you think.
And if stains do happen that can’t be removed, these options are budget-friendly and easy to replace.
Which leads to my next tip: always keep one to two extra sets of clean bedding on hand. This makes turnovers smoother and saves you from stress if something needs to be replaced unexpectedly.
Another small but game-changing trick: keep a lint roller on hand. Even freshly laundered sheets can pick up lint or dust, and a quick roll keeps everything looking crisp and photo-ready before your guests arrive.
Without further ado, here is my list of bedding recommendations:
Sheets:
- Casual Living sheets from Amazon
- Why: They are extremely soft, affordable, and hold up well in the washing machine over time.
- We tried many different kinds of sheets and these ended up being my go-to!
Comforter:
- This comforter from Bedsure
- Why: it has a good amount of thickness and warmth, without being too overwhelming. For this price, it’s a steal – it comes across as a much more expensive comforter than what it is.
- Note: you will need a duvet cover for this.
Duvet Cover (a few options):
- Budget-Friendly:
- For my Airbnb, I use this duvet cover from Bedsure (can you tell I love Bedsure products yet?)
- Why: it’s really soft, feels luxurious, stays in place on the comforter well, and is easy to get on and off the comforter to wash.
- Slightly More Expensive, with texture:
- For something with more visual interest, I highly recommend this cover from Great Bay Home.
- Why: the waffle texture is really soft and comfortable. My husband and I chose this for our bed at home after a lot of deliberation over different duvet covers. It’s a good blend of comfort and durability.
- Another slightly more expensive, with texture:
- We also have this duvet cover from MILDLY in our house, and love it.
- Why: The mix of subtle pattern and texture keeps things visually interesting while staying soft.
- Note: If completely white bedding is a little scary for you, I would recommend getting this duvet cover in a color (we have the sage green & white at our house and it is beautiful). It will give you some color while still keeping a bright aesthetic.
Pillows:
- Pillows are extremely subjective and therefore can feel difficult to choose for a guest space. My recommendation would be to get 2 different types of pillows, one soft and one firm, to allow guests to choose what works best for them.
- Note: don’t skip pillow protectors. They extend the life of your pillows and prevent lingering odors. I once lost four pillows after forgetting protectors when a guest who smoked stayed. Unfortunately, the smell never came out.
- Soft: I love these Sealy Sterling Collection Down-Alternative pillows from Costco. They’re a great price and are, in my opinion, extremely soft and comfortable.
- Firm: Another favorite Bedsure product.
Blankets:
- We provide two Bedsure blankets at our Airbnb
- Why: these blankets are extremely comfortable and are also a fun pop of color on the bed. They’ve held up beautifully in the wash and are super soft.
- Bedsure also makes textured blanket options (which we use at home) that add warmth and dimension to the space.
Creating a cozy, inviting bed doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. A few thoughtful choices can dramatically elevate your guests’ experience. Better sleep almost always translates to better reviews. Comfort matters, and when guests feel truly rested, they remember it.
