When we made the decision to allow pets at our Airbnb, guests would occasionally send me photos of their pet enjoying the space. I loved getting these photos so much. I eventually found myself saying: Why not let all guests enjoy the cuteness of other people’s pets?
That’s when the idea of a Furry Guest Photo Board was born.
What started as a fun board for me to look at when I would clean between stays quickly became a feature that guests genuinely love and comment on. It’s now one of the most talked-about details of our pet friendly space.
The best part? It was so easy to make, and a relatively small investment (from $65-$200 depending on what camera you choose) with big impact.
What You’ll Need:
- Instant Camera:
- My pick: Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Camera
- Includes enough film to last a few months (depending on usage)
- Good photo quality
- Extremely easy for guests to use
- Alternative option: This Fujifilm bundle
- This wasn’t available at the time I purchased mine, but it includes fun photo frames and ways to display the photos, which is a great add-on!
- On a budget?
- Consider this Instant Camera. Based on the description, it seems to be a good value. It consistently gets good reviews from customers so it would likely be a good option for something that will be relatively low-usage (1-2 shots per stay).
- My pick: Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Camera
- Bulletin Board & Supplies:
- This bulletin board is what I went with because it was a good size to fit multiple polaroid-sized photos without taking up too much wall space.
- Push pins (some are included with the board above)
- Printed instructions (see below for what I used)
- Permanent marker for guests to write their pet’s name
How To Set It Up:
- Find a safe (but accessible) place to store your camera
- Print and display instructions nearby for guests to reference. This is what I used:

-
- You can access these instructions for free on my Canva using this link
- Hang your bulletin board on the wall
- Add a title to the top of the board: “Furry Guest Photo Board” or “Paws & Polaroids”
- Watch the adorable photos accumulate!
Why This Works So Well:
- It personalizes your space
- It creates and interactive experience
- It gives your guests something to remember from your Airbnb
- It reinforces that you genuinely welcome and care about people’s pets
And for future guests? Seeing dozens of happy pets who have stayed before them builds instant trust.
I promise you won’t regret adding this fun, interactive element to your pet-friendly Airbnb. It’s a simple way to make your space feel thoughtful, warm, and intentionally designed for both humans and their furry companions!
